An Update on Our 2021 Summer Bucket List
I cannot believe it has been over a month since I last shared our 2021 summer bucket list. I know I’ve said it before but, I’ll have to go ahead and say it again, this summer seems to be flying by. But, I think that is because this year we are going to start homeschool a little bit earlier than last year.
Do you count the first day of school as the last day of summer, or is it the end of September?
I’m hoping that homeschooling changes our perspective, and encourages us to view the change of the season as the true end of summer…
On Our 2021 Summer Bucket List
Berry Picking. Now, if you had the chance to read this post, then you know that berry picking was the first summer activity we crossed off of our list. Justin and I, let alone the girls have never been berry picking before so, it was fun to experience it together.
Kayak on the Harbor. On Father’s Day we surprised Justin with a little adventure. Our call time was between 8 + 9 am (high tide) so, his dream of sleeping in was squashed. But, he did mention that he had a blast getting out on the water. We all did!
Sadie was in my boat; her job was to hold her paddle right in front of her to keep her balance throughout the whole trip. She is only 3 guys, and even though we were wearing life jackets, I have zero upper body strength (I’m working on it!). So, I would not be able to flip the boat, get her on it, and then get myself on board without starting the process all over again.
To be fair, the few times she did get the paddle into the water, it ended up under the kayak. Sadie is not the type to let go or admit defeat so, I’m sure she would have held on until she went into the water. Then our father’s day adventure would be cut short.
Nora shared a kayak with Justin, and she did get the opportunity to paddle. She did great! I love how our bucket list is opening our eyes to new experiences we would otherwise save for “someday”.
Go to a drive in movie. Full disclosure, the movie started at 8:45 pm. Waaay passed both girl’s bedtimes but, its summer. And, sometimes we break the rules to make the memories. So, we packed a small cooler with movie treats and drinks and head on out to the drive in.
The girls sat in the truck bed, in their Adirondack chairs. While Justin and I sat in beach chairs, ground level. You may be wondering what movie we went to see? Well, it was Raya and the Last Dragon.
It was perfect for our first drive in movie experience. The one thing I wish we packed? Bug Spray. Omph, those pesky critters were definitely biting that night.
Summer Ain't Over Yet...
This Saturday we have plans to cross another activity off of our 2021 summer bucket list. Here’s a hint, we are learning all about space this week, answer in the comments if you know what we have planned!
Afterwards, I am looking forward to having an outdoor game night(also on zse bucket list). I have a few activities up my sleeve that I can’t wait to share with the girls…
