Summer Mornings on Long Island

Summer Mornings | Danielle Ravitch

Yesterday, we finally got a break from the heat here on Long Island. Every morning when I wake up, I check the weather to see if we can open the windows and let some fresh air in. Most days, I am disappointed but not yesterday. It was a light and airy 70 degrees. One of the best summer mornings yet! So, I did a little happy dance and got to work on those windows.

During breakfast, Sadie asked if we could visit a local playground at the beach, and I immediately said, YES! So, afterwards we all loaded up in the truck and headed on out for our morning adventure. The windows were down, and we were playing some classic rock on the way. We were all looking forward to comfortably spending some time in the summer sun.

There’s something perfect about a summer morning like this one, it just pulls you outdoors to experience its beauty. From the song of the birds to the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves in the trees; it creates an energy that is hard to escape.

We spent a couple of hours at the beach, the girls loved the playground, and I enjoyed dipping my toes in the warm, late July Long Island Sound. If you are ever planning a trip to Long Island’s beaches, the best time is now. The water is so warm!

If you have little ones, the North Shore beaches are calmer. But, if you love the sound of the ocean waves, head on to the South Shore. Either way, you can do no wrong.

We headed home when the girls were ready for lunch. But, that doesn’t mean our time outside was over…the afternoon promised yet another summer adventure!

Q for you: Summer time is truly one of the best times to experience Long Island. Have you ever visited?
