Say Hello to Roxy! Our New Dalmatian Puppy
Happy Monday! I am so excited to share the newest addition to our little family, a sweet Dalmatian we’ve named Roxy. Well technically, her name is Rockstar. Sadie’s choice. And, Roxy is her nickname.
We are smitten. She just arrived home yesterday around 4 pm after Justin traveled for a full day to meet her in Cape May, New Jersey. Now, I know I didn’t take the drive but I can tell you it was well worth it!
Roxy has a calm, playful temperament. And, she loves to snuggle, so she’s already speaking my love language. Additionally, the American Kennel Club, notes that Dalmatians are extremely affectionate with family, protective and loyal by nature, and easy to train. I’m excited to take her on my runs when she gets a bit older because Dalmatians are considered high energy dogs too.
Why We Chose a Dalmatian
Well, ever since Sadie watched 101 Dalmatians last year, that’s all she’s been talking about (getting one of her own). And, Justin and I knew we wanted to open our home to a puppy again so the hunt was on.
Believe it or not, our hunt lasted over a year, and yes it was slightly casual. Something we would entertain here and there. But, last week things got serious when Justin located a reputable breeder in South Jersey.
Bringing home Roxy was a huge surprise for both of our girls. I’ll have to admit, I almost spilled the beans a few times throughout the day. But, thankfully, I caught myself before any damage was done.
Due to pure excitement, last night was a sleepless night for all of us. Well, that is except for Sadie… she was out like a light! But, that’s okay because Roxy and I got some quality snuggle time this morning to make up for it.
Now, if we can just get our cat, Lola on board with our decision. In part, last night was sleepless because she sat straight up on my lap for most of it. Monitoring the girls room for any suspicious movement. They had a few chance meetings today, and even though they aren’t yet, I have a feeling they’ll be fast friends in a week or so (keep your fingers crossed for us).
Welcome to the family Roxy!! We are so excited you’re here.
