PEPPERMINT THREE WAYS
Invigorating, soothing, and cooling, this oil can bring joy and buoyancy to the heart as well as inspire strength and optimism. The high menthol content of the doTERRA peppermint essential oil sets it apart from others when it comes to quality – making it one of the best-selling favorites! Truthfully, I always make sure to have this oil on hand because it can do so many things, let’s get into that right now…
AROMATICALLY
Peppermint essential oil can be used in a diffuser, room, linen or body spray. Since this oil has a high menthol content like we discussed earlier, a little bit goes a long way. With a minty, fresh and herbaceous scent, it can be paired with many essential oils in your diffuser. Here are some diffuser blends you might want to try:
Clear Mind 3 drops each: Peppermint Rosemary Lemon
Energy Boost 2 drops each: Peppermint Wild Orange Grapefruit
HOW TO USE PEPPERMINT TOPICALLY
If you have sensitive skin, be sure to dilute this essential oil with your carrier oil of choice. I usually go with fractionated coconut oil but, if you don’t have it on hand, olive oil works too. One of my favorite ways to use this essential oil in the warmer months is by applying it to my pulse points, and back of the neck to cool down my body on a hot day or after a workout.
Here’s a great DIY you will want to back pocket for later, especially if you’re looking to detox your personal care products: Uplifting Body Wash ½ cup castile soap 4 tbsp vegetable glycerin 3 tbsp fractionated coconut oil 10 drops Peppermint essential oil Combine all of the ingredients above into an 8 oz glass pump bottle, and shake before each use.
Roller Bottle Recipes
Add essential oils to a 10 ml roller bottle, then top with carrier oil of choice. Seasonal Relief 8 drops each of: Peppermint Lavender Lemon
Head Tension 8 drops each of: Peppermint Frankincense Copaiba Lavender
Breathe Easy 8 drops each of: Peppermint Frankincense Lime
Yes, peppermint is one of doTERRA’s essential oils that is safe to use internally. Mix a drop of this essential oil to a shot glass size of water, and voila! A healthy, refreshing mouthwash. Or, if you suffer from an occasional upset tummy, add 1-2 drops of this essential oil to a veggie capsule to alleviate your discomfort. Make sure to take this veggie cap with a full glass of water for best results.
