Happy Thursday friends and welcome back to the blog! All is quiet around the house. We are calmly falling back into our weekday routine post winter break.
In my posts last week I mentioned having a kid-free weekend. Well, the kid free weekend also meant an errand free weekend. I did not make it to the grocery store. We are basically cleaning out our fridge this week and surviving on the bare essentials.
In other news, it seems that even though Nora was adamant that she did not want to return to school, she is happy to be back amongst her friends. So, that has been making the mornings a little bit easier around here.
If your family is also returning to business as usual after winter break, I hope the transition is an easy one for you. Because lets face it, sometimes jumping back into routine can be rough! Now, lets talk about the top beauty diys for February!
Beauty DIYs
Make Up Brush Cleaner
I don’t know about you but, my girls like to get their hands on my make up any chance they get. I usually try to appease them by handing over my least favorite make up brush. And, that usually means that make up brush has magically morphed into a paint brush, a duster, or a clever tool for their latest archeological find.
So, when I get my brush back… it is in desperate need of a cleaning. And this all natural diy is the perfect remedy!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil
5 drops Melaleuca oil
5 drops Grapefruit oil
Instructions
- Add Fractionated Coconut Oil and essential oils into a small bowl.
- Swirl your makeup brush in the Fractionated Coconut Oil for 30 seconds, or until you see the makeup stored in your brush start to come out.
- Rub in a circular motion on the palm of hand to help get the makeup out.
- Rinse the brush under warm water. Gently squeeze brush bristles until clean, and the water runs clear. Note: Make sure to point the bristles down when running under water. Direct water contact may loosen the glue where the bristles are attach and shorten the life of your brushes.
- Let your newly cleaned makeup brushes dry on a towel for four hours, or until dry. Repeat once a month, or as needed.
Castile soap is a great alternative, if you don’t have essential oils on hand! I love this brand, in lavender. You can use castile soap for basically anything.
Sugar Lip Scrub
Our return to a colder climate has been reeking havoc on my lips! From the cold, dry air outside to the dry heat inside, its been brutal. So, I like to use this scrub when my lips are in need of a little extra TLC.
Ingredients
4 teaspoons brown sugar
3 teaspoons virgin coconut oil
3 teaspoons honey
2 drops Peppermint oil
2 drops Wild Orange oil
Note: This recipe makes a little less than ¼ cup. Either portion out the mixture into several air-tight containers, or adjust the recipe to fit the container you have.
Instructions
- Mix brown sugar, coconut oil, and honey in small bowl.
- Add desired essential oils.
- Stir until ingredients are combined.
- Put contents into container(s) of your choice.
- Apply to lips as needed.
I’m excited to hear from you once you’ve given these beauty diys a try!
