Diary No. 4
It’s been almost three weeks since I have posted here. And to be honest, I am kind of shocked it has been that long. So, here we are with Hello Thoughts Vol. 4. Even though a new post has not gone live here on the blog, I have been working on things behind the scenes. And, of course there are other little tidbits of life keeping things interesting as well – like keeping up with home school, house hunting in another state, and current events that put their own special spin on things.
When life gets a little too overwhelming, I tend to take a step back from everything. I was speaking with a friend just last week, and relayed my strategy for processing bad news – curl up in a dark corner somewhere and just let the information seep in. We all have our own ways of coping, right? Well, thankfully, there wasn’t any bad news to process, just a need to step away for a while.
I needed to remind myself of why I decided to start this blogging journey. Truthfully it has been one hell of an uphill climb trying to figure out who I am writing for, and what I am passionate about sharing. One book that has brought some insight into this conundrum is The Power of Starting Something Stupid. This book helped me realize one very important fact…
I started blogging to capture memories for my family, create new adventures, share recipes, advice, diys and helpful how-to’s so my girls would have a little virtual manual to thumb through if they ever needed a little bit of mom’s insight (and for some reason I’m not immediately available). So, while I often felt bogged down by the idea of keeping a consistent posting schedule as well as making my writing style easily digestible, and heavily searched by many. I realize I am truly writing for an audience of two.
And that realization lifted a whole lot of weight off of my shoulders.
So, now that I feel a bit more centered in this journey, get ready for a whole lot more posts. No, I do not want to commit to a posting schedule but, you can definitely expect fresh content here every week. And, even though my target audience is the two little ladies I get to spend most of my days with, I hope you find something useful here as well. And, this is your formal invitation to stick around because there are a lot of exciting changes in the works…
