2025 Word of the Year
It’s a new day, and I am thankful for it. As I type these thoughts into a word document, I am sitting on the banquette Justin built for our little dining nook. And, looking at the prettiest pink-ish orange sky outside of the picture window where our future kitchen will be. Enjoying a very large cup of oolong tea (the coffee comes mid-morning).
The sun rises a little bit later here in Eastern Tennessee than it does on Long Island. So, for us that means slower mornings (the girls sleep until around 8 am), and the chance to start the day with the sun. Being on the border of the eastern/central time zone did take some getting used to at first. But the opportunity to view a 7:30 sunrise makes it a little easier.
I am trying to get back into the habit of writing out my thoughts and sharing them here in this space with you. I took a long step away from my cozy corner on the web, and that’s because life got busy…
Between home renovations, road tripping up and down the east coast (it’s not as glamorous as it sounds), and all the activities we get involved in around here, there is little time for basically anything else. But, getting them out of my brain and into the universe helps with manifesting them to life so, here we are…
Have you written resolutions for the New Year?
Last night, I crawled into bed and took the opportunity to catch up with some of my favorite blogs. One blogger decided to share her word of the year for 2025. I don’t know about you, but I love reading those kinds of posts. It gives a glimpse of what’s going on right now in a person’s life (something they might not have shared before) and one way they are trying to achieve their goals for the future, or how they are letting go of their desire to control every little bit of their life.
I know there are a lot of thoughts out there about setting resolutions – some think they just set themselves up for failure, others swear by it. And it’s kind of the same with the word of the year craze too.
Personally, I like to set goals for myself. Sometimes, I achieve them and sometimes they morph into a new goal along the way. But what matters most to me is the growth that happens in the journey.
This year I have one goal I would like to accomplish by mid-April (career wise). More on that to come. And right now, all the other goals are to take a back seat. I also try to align my goals with the seasons. For instance, I’ve been wanting to learn how to make cinnamon rolls from scratch (And, I didi!! Yay!). So, that’s a goal I would save for fall/winter. Not advised for the hot humid summers here in Tennessee.
Here’s my scratch made cinnamon rolls….
So good! And surprisingly easy to make.
Resolutions, word of the year, goals for 2025, it can all seem a bit overwhelming. Whatever you decide for 2025, I hope this year brings you joy, growth and adventure! If that’s what you’re looking for 😊
Here is my 2025 word(s) of the year
I am not on social media. Well, other than our YouTube channel which has been very quiet over the past year. But, when I heard about screenshotting your word of the year, I jumped at the chance and googled it right away.
This is the post that came up, in case you want to give it a try, and here are my words for 2025. Yes, words. I didn’t think I screenshot the words correctly so, I ended up with a few that I could not choose between. It’s funny how they all just fit –
Acknowledgement: You’ve been so busy chasing the next thing you forgot to honor what’s already here. This year, you’re learning to pause and give yourself credit where it’s due.
Renewal: You don’t have to start over to begin again. Renewal is less about changing who you are and more about coming back to yourself.
Alignment: You don’t need to force anything into place. When something feels right, you’ll know. This year is about honoring that knowing and trusting that it’s enough.
If you check out Sammy’s post on Tik Tok, feel free to share your word for the year below… I was surprised by (all of) mine.
