Hi there, and welcome back! This week’s free preschool curriculum will conclude the first quarter of our academic year.  The theme? Well, it’s all about scarecrows, a perfect symbolic nod to the fall season.

So, let’s get into just what you and your preschooler are going to cover this week…

Preschool Curriculum Week 6 Free Resources

Here are some of the free resources I gathered from across the web to pull together our week 6 scarecrow theme:

Math Activities for Preschoolers

Five is the number of the week. And, going forward we will work with our preschoolers to learn and recognize numbers up to 20.

Here is some more info about the four major math concepts that you should cover with your kiddo in pre – k and kindergarten. Yes, I try to cover all of the bases with each week, let’s see how we are tackling this week:

Addition Cards + Scarecrow Patterns (Scarecrows Kindergarten Worksheets, Kindergarten Worksheets and Games

Preschool Math All About the Number 5 (Education.com)

Shape Scarecrows (Primary Playground)

Fall Measurement (Crafted with Bliss)

This Kindergarten Worksheets workbook is a great find. It has loads of activities for this week’s scarecrow theme. However, you should know that we just used the math worksheets (listed above) from this workbook.

Fine/Gross Motor Skills

Cut + Paste Scarecrows (Life Over Cs) – this fine motor activity can double as an art project too! Because your preschooler can color in the cutouts to make a uniquely special scarecrow of their own. Just make sure to have cardstock on hand.

Pre-Writing Skills, Practice Writing Name (Create Printables) – You can personalize a name tracing worksheet for your preschooler on this site. Print to pdf and save in your homeschool desktop folder and your good to go!

Scarecrow Lacing Card (Woo Jr.) – This lacing card is less taxing than others I’ve shared in the past.  But, its perfect for your little one to get some fine motor practice in.

Lastly, pick two gross motor activities from The Inspired Treehouse. I am partial to the Boot Scoot n’ Shuffle, and Leaf Scramble.

Language Arts

Science + Sensory

Make a scarecrow sensory bin (3 Boys and a Dog) – I would usually take on a project like this on my own. But, this time I would like to get Sadie involved with finding the objects and putting the sensory bin together. Maybe in the future she will take the initiative to make her own…

Liquid Light Experiment (Steve Spangler Science) – this looks like a ton of fun for kids of all ages. Whenever you go to your local dollar store, make sure to grab a few packs of glow sticks. There are so many fun things you can do with them!

Fall themed sink or float experiment (Little Bins for Little Hands)a great hands on experiment sure to engage your preschooler from beginning to end. My girls always love to take part in sink/float experiments, and they get super excited to track their hypotheses.

Music

Check out the Chrome Music Lab – I mentioned this site in week 5, and I am mentioning it again because it was an absolute hit! Go ahead, give your little one some screen time to experiment with music. You won’t be disappointed.

Move to this Scarecrow, Scarecrow song to get your little one warmed up for the day’s lesson.

Make a homemade musical instrument (How Wee Learn) – There are so many different options on this site, you are sure to find an instrument that interests your kiddo.

Arts + Crafts

Create a scarecrow popsicle magnet – or you can make more than one – a keepsake for your fridge, and the grandparents too.

Or, you can try this handprint scarecrow craft. Preserve that tiny handprint while you can!!

Creative Play

The girls absolutely loved setting up their own pumpkin patch.  This activity can be as simple or elaborate as you want. What matters is that you bring your imagination to play.
