So, as a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, it feels fitting to wrap up this toxin free chat by sharing a little something about nutrition.
Today, I am going to share 4 foods that naturally detox your body…
DAIKON RADISH
This sweet and spicy, Asian root vegetable is an excellent source of vitamin C. It’s great to add to your favorite vege soup or salad. Additionally, if you are trying to improve the health of your GI tract, you can try this pickled carrot and daikon radish recipe. Not only will this fermented food bring good bacteria to your gut but, it is a healthy side dish to any meal.
LEMON
If you search for Lemon Detox Water, you will find countless recipes. But, let’s keep it simple here. Throwing a few slices of this citrus into your water each day, gently cleanses the body and aids in digestion. It also has something in common with the daikon radish, it’s packed with Vitamin C which is known to be an immunity booster.
Furthermore, according to Live Science, “lemons can be an effective exigent food, meaning that, in addition to their own nutritional properties, they can unleash benefits from other foods when combined with them.”
NATURALLY DETOX WITH BROCCOLI
Yum, I love broccoli! It’s one of my favorite vegetables, especially when it’s roasted with garlic, EVOO and a little bit of sea salt…soo good! The girls love it too. Broccoli not only promotes detoxification but it can aid in digestion as well. According to Medical News Today, because broccoli is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, it can help the body to release toxins, that it may not be able to release on it’s own.
COLLARD GREENS
Yes, dark leafy greens are known to purify the blood, strengthen the immune system and nourish the nervous system. And, as an excellent source of vitamins A, C, and K, collard greens are no different. The high fiber content in collard greens also aids in healthy digestion, which is integral to the detoxification process. Not sure how to cook up your collard greens? Not a fan of collard greens? No biggie, there are other cruciferous vegetables you can try instead like, bok choy, brussel sprouts, cabbage, and spinach.
Each of the foods listed here have a few things in common, they not only promote detoxification but, they are also rich in vitamin C, and help to reduce inflammation as well. To naturally detox your body, try to incorporate more nutrient dense foods, high in antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties. Fiber is key to promoting healthy digestion which is crucial to the detoxification process as well.
