How to Make Homemade Toilet Pods
Learn how to make homemade toilet pods with just 5 ingredients. This recipe will freshen up your bathroom, in between your deep cleaning routine.
Natural living is something that I have become quite passionate about over the past few years. One thing that struck me right away when I dove head first into this lifestyle is the amount of toxins that surround us daily. Toxins are everywhere, they are in the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the products we reach for on a daily basis.
So, when I decided to integrate natural solutions into my daily rituals, I knew it would be a great first step on a lifelong journey toward toxin free living. But, there are so many ways to overhaul your lifestyle when it comes to using naturally sourced products. And, just the thought of taking that first step can be intimidating.
However, it is best to hit tiny targets along the way to achieving your big goal. And, that’s why I suggest picking one recipe at a time instead of going all in at once. If you’re worried about the investment of making the switch to natural products, trust me, they cost way less than store bought over time. That’s because many all natural diy recipes use a lot of the same ingredients.
Homemade Toilet Pod INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup baking soda
- ¼ cup citric acid
- 1 tablespoon On Guard Cleaner Concentrate/Castile Soap
- 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide
- 10-15 drops essential oil (optional)
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE TOILET PODS
Mix the baking soda and citric acid.
Add in OnGuard Cleaner Concentrate/Castile Soap, hydrogen peroxide, and essential oils. I love using Lemongrass and Lemon Eucalyptus in the bathroom.
Stir ingredients until they have reached the consistency of wet sand.
Pack mixture into silicone mold, and allow to dry for 3-4 hours. At this point, your mixture may expand over the molds (mine sure did!). Simply continue to pack the mixture back down until it ceases to expand.
Once hardened and ready to be removed from mold, transfer to an airtight jar.
To use, add one pod to the toilet, once the pod is done fizzing, then you can get to scrubbing.
Happy (green) cleaning!
