Fun and Festive Recipes to Try This Halloween

halloween

Halloween is this Sunday! I shared in this post here that Nora will be a vampire, and Sadie will be Shine (from the show Shimmer and Shine). I thought long and hard about whether or not to dress up this year but, ultimately decided against it. If you’re dressing up this Halloween, share your costume with me in the comments!

This is the second year that Halloween lands on a weekend, and last year we had a blast. One tradition we started last year will definitely carry over, pumpkin picking. That’s right, we are going to go pumpkin picking on the day of Halloween. Believe it or not, when we took the drive out East last year, the farm was not crowded.

This year, we may keep it a bit simpler and visit the farm right down the road for our pumpkins. So, that means I have to be ready with some spooky recipes to carry us throughout the day. Here are some fun and festive recipes I found on the web…

Breakfast | Halloween Waffle Board (The Gray Ruby Diaries) – Our girls love waffles, and this waffle board is a cute and festive way to start off the day! Although one reviewer mentioned it looks more like a pancake board, and I kind of agree. If you’re looking for last minute holiday cookie cutters, check out these for $4.99 on prime!

A.M. Snack Time | Apple Monster Teeth (I Heart Nap Time) – I am obsessed with this idea! So creative yet, quick and easy too. This snack is one both of my girls will enjoy!

Lunch | Mummy Meatballs (Delish) – I know my girls would devour these meatballs. Who am I kidding I would definitely help! These look super tasty, just add some marinara sauce to dip and you’re good to go!

Jack O’ Lantern Quesadillas (Eat Drink Love) – On the other hand, I may opt for this quick and easy idea, and add a cup of soup so the girls can warm up after spending some time outside. But, instead of a straight quesadilla, I would go for Chicken Pesto…they are delicious!

P.M. Snack | Spider Cracker Snacks (La Jolla Mom) – Another quick and easy snack for the win! Sure to keep the kids full for another round of trick or treating around the neighborhood.

Dinner | I have a pork shoulder taking up space in our stand up freezer so, I am thinking its time to use it for Halloween. But, I can’t decide between carnitas or pulled pork… which would you choose? Side note: we have had bbq pulled chicken on heavy rotation for lunch because its quick and easy. So, I am leaning more towards these carnitas (Baking Mischief).

After a day of fun festivities we will most likely snuggle up on the couch and watch one of these movies. Did your favorite Halloween movie make the list?
