These 6 Essential Oils are Good for Summer

Happy Friday friends! As I write this, live jazz music is streaming through my open windows here at home. The sun is setting, and the air is getting cooler, we are well into a beautiful spring. The sound of the applause for the ensemble is a wonderful sign that life is making a huge step toward normalcy. And, it sure feels good.

Isn’t it crazy that the unofficial start to summer is this weekend? With summer just around the corner I have been checking in on my doTERRA summer essentials, just to make sure I have what I need on hand so we can summer safely this year. If you are planning on spending more time outdoors as the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, come take a peek at the natural solutions I will not go without for summer. I have a feeling you might just need them too.

CITRONELLA

One of my absolute favorite diffuser blends is – 3 drops Citronella, 3 drops Vetiver, smells so good! Definitely give it a try. Ever since I received my Pilot diffuser in the mail, I knew that I would be using it on our patio during the warmer months to ward off those pesky insects. And, boy does our house get a ton of different creatures.

The plan is to set up the diffuser 15-30 minutes before heading with 2-3 drops of Citronella essential oil. Then when it comes time to head out and enjoy our patio, we will be in a bug free environment!

PEPPERMINT TOUCH

Peppermint is truly a versatile oil. Not only can peppermint essential oil help lessen feelings of tension, naturally deter insects, and uplift your mood while promoting a sense of focus, it can also help you to stay cool this summer.

When you are feeling a little overheated in the summer sun just grab your peppermint touch roller and roll on pulse points and back of neck for a cooling sensation. Never go without this one, trust me!

HELICHRYSUM TOUCH

Now, I already shared how I use this oil each day in my doTERRA Morning Routine post but, let’s talk about how it is a non-negotiable for summer too. Helichrysum is best known for its restorative properties when applied topically. You know when the kiddos get bumps and bruises from playing the floor is lava? Or, just clumsily bump into things from point A to point B?

This touch roller will be your best friend, simply apply Helichrysum to the site of your little ones bump or bruise and watch it work its magic. I applied Helichrysum (a few times) to Nora’s head after she ended up with a golf ball sized lump, right on her forehead. This roller along with a cold compress (on and off) truly worked wonders for the swelling and inflammation.

Now, if there aren’t little ones taking over your household, then this essential oil is also well known for it’s anti-aging properties. Looking for a glowing, youthful complexion? Then you’ll definitely want to add this touch roller to your skincare routine.

This all natural, multi-purpose ointment is absolutely essential any time of the year. Don’t worry its petroleum free. Infused with oils like Frankincense, Helichrysum, Tea Tree, Cedarwood and Lavender, this ointment not only promotes healthy skin but is known for it’s calming effects as well.

LAVENDER

Lavender is a must have oil here in our house. It’s calming and relaxing, helps ease tension, and can even soothe occasional skin irritations. Did you get a little too much sun? Well, this oil is perfect for your summer survival kit! Here is a After Sun Spray DIY, you will want to have back pocketed for later –
5 drops of each of the following essential oils:
Lavender
Peppermint
Tea Tree
2 Tbsp Pure Aloe Vera Gel
Using a 2 oz glass spray bottle, add oils, and aloe. Fill to the top with warm water, and gently mist on sun burned skin.

Well, there you have it. The six doTERRA products I cannot do without during the summer season. While the heat of summer can be oppressive here on Long Island, I love the freedom summer brings. Longer days, a fun and carefree schedule, and road trip adventures to local spots undiscovered.

What are your likes and dislikes of summer?!
