Five Years with Sadie!
It took me quite some time just to sit down and write this, partly because I am in utter disbelief that you are already five. Seriously, year four went by in a flash. And, I guess that should be my warning sign to slow down as much as possible, and to take in these beautiful days with you and Nora.
You wake up most mornings after everyone else. Believe me, Dad and I could not be more excited that we have a sound sleeper on our hands. There are even some mornings you do not make it out of bed until 10 a.m.!
But, when you do get out of bed you always make sure to find all of us to say good morning, or for a hug to get the day started.
But then you’re all business, and ask for breakfast as soon as possible. And, if you had it your way, you would have a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich every morning. Some things just don’t change.
After a day full of activities, Sadie is usually the first one to show signs that it’s time to go to bed. Kind of like when you were a toddler, Sadie would say good night to everyone out of the blue and head for the stairs to make it up to bed. At bedtime, you usually pick out a comfy set of pajamas. Yes, you still kick off your covers, and have realized you’ll need something more than a princess nightgown to keep you warm at night.
LIFE WITH SADIE
You are A-larious. Sadie has a way of making us all laugh. Whether it’s new words or phrases you’ve invented, or jokes that catch us completely off guard – your smile and laughter are contagious. You may never fully understand how much joy you bring to us all.
You are brilliant. Even though here in Tennessee you don’t have to start kindergarten until next year, you are already reading, writing in allll of your notebooks, and crushing it with math. You even join in on some of Nora’s lessons, since you prefer to sit at the table with us when your lessons are through.
You are outspoken. That’s right, you are never afraid to tell us what is on your mind. Although sometimes you may have trouble finding the right words.
You are brave. You have been more willing to try new things this year. Whether it’s soccer, gymnastics, cheerleading, obstacle courses, meeting new friends, etc. You have been putting yourself out there more and more, and I love watching you grow from each new experience.
You are creative. This year you’ve thrown caution to the wind and just dove into creating – whether it’s drawing, watercolors, or clay projects, you love creating something with your own two hands. In the past, you grew very discouraged that your creations didn’t turn out just so. But, after some art lessons from Nora, you are more willing to trust the process, and quickly fill up the pages of each of your notebooks with your drawings.
You are imaginative. If lunch is set on the table, and you’re left alone for a minute or two, you would have no problem picking up two baby carrots and pretending they’re entangled in conversation. Your stuffies are an amazing extension of you, and I love hearing about a new family member’s name, and witnessing which stuffy you gravitate to each day.
